It wasn’t attempted murder. The kid didn’t eat the peanuts. It was a prank that was dumb and those involved apologized and the kid was cool with the apologies and is friends with some of them still. When you only get the salacious tidbits it’s easy to cry attempted murder. The kid knew not to eat it.

Has he been punished at all? If so, how? The answer to your question is no he shouldn't be punished for the rest of his life but Texas pulling his offer is a long way from being punished for the rest of his life, not even remotely close IMO.

He apologized and all is good, right? It wasn't a dumb prank. It was bullying and could have had a disasterious result. You're good with it, I'm not and hope Shark pulls the offer. Hopefully not a commitable offer.

Knowing nothing other than what is typed here, but definitely have questions about this kids maturity. UT will take a chance on a kid, but in all of those cases the athletes seemed to want to change (Blue and the drug dealing TE/LB being prime examples)

My son is off the charts allergic to peanuts, so I have a hard time thinking this is a stupid prank. Peanut allergies are no joke. Maybe the kid is so stupid he doesn’t understand how serious peanut allergies are and needs an education. There’s absolutely precedent for this type of act resulting in murder charges as well as battery. Pranks that could conceivably result in death are not pranks. When you point blank ask someone, hey could peanuts kill you, then you choose to expose them to peanuts, youre a piece of *****. I would have filed civil charges against the kid.

It has been reported that the kids who pulled this “prank” had literally just had a public conversation with the kid and asked him point blank if peanuts would kill him. He said said yes, and they did it anyway.
Further, following the original incident, the kid has been facing ongoing retaliation for reporting, and another peanut bar was put back in his locker.
Absolutely 100% hard pass on the player if he was actually involved as it’s been reported. The intiial incident is one thing. But the ongoing retaliation from his “teammates” is the nail in the coffin. He’s a leader on the team. Whether he made a mistake or not, a leader would absolutely put a stop to it.
Shameful the administration, coaching staff, and parents haven’t done jack either. Not shocked these kids are showing such bad judgment and low character when their role models do nothing beyond a couple game suspension and haven’t put a stop to it.

There's something to be said about learning such a huge lesson at a young age. If he's contrite and matured, he can really add to the culture. I'm for giving youth second chances and I'm sure Sark knows if he is deserving.

If retaliation is still ongoing and the kid didn’t actually have any repercussions, I’m not optimistic. This is the type of poor adult leadership that teaches kids they won’t be held accountable for their actions.

Possible. But his offer is not etched in stone. Sark could be telling him that he's giving him a chance, but there are repercussions from his POV. I understand it was a horrible event that could have been much worse. But you are still dealing with an immature and undeveloped thought process. Sark, of all people, should have insight into who's deserving.
